Help Work for Positive Change

Join a series of action-oriented meetings to work with others to help Homer take real steps toward: • habitat protection • more trails and outdoor recreation • environmental hazard mitigation (flooding, landslides, etc.).

You are welcome to bring a snack or festive treats to share!

At this meeting, we aim to:

(a) Create a system for group decision-making

(b) Rank Priorities

(c) Outline Strategy

(d) Assign Tasks

(e) Set next meeting date

Broadly speaking, we want to encourage the Homer City Council to make good on commitments for open space protections they made in the recently-passed Comprehensive Plan (pass laws and move money). For example, we want them to prioritize the purchase of lands for conservation/recreation and to use existing GIS mapped layers showing wetlands, riparian zones, etc. as the basis for what kinds of development go where.

We are asking everyone who attends to please review the code and policy changes recommended by the Conservation Society:

This list is in no way comprehensive but it will be our starting point.
